Until the start of the 38th Mid-Atlantic Association of Women in Law Enforcement Conference! The Friendly City is ready to welcome the more than 115 conference attendees that are already registered. There is still time to register for the conference, but hotel space is limited, please visit our conference website for further information regarding the hotel. We also recommend you check out our website for details about the daily fitness activities during the conference and things to do while in Harrisonburg. For attendees that like to bike we encourage you to bring your bike and check out some of the many bike trails in the area. Hotel Madison offers many amenities including an indoor salt water pool, gym, and self serve guest laundry, they have also connected with local businesses that offer discounts to hotel guests, click here for details about the Keys to the City Guest Perk Program.
Conference check-in/registration is open from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday 10/13 and will resume on Monday 10/14 from 7:00 am to 8:30 am. If you are attending the golf event on Sunday there will be plenty of time to pick up your registration packet afterwards.
IMPORTANT CONFERENCE INFORMATION
What to wear: Outside of your normal attire for training and conferences we have two events we ask that you bring specific attire to wear.
Conference Photo - Department Issued Class A Uniform. Please meet in the lobby of the Hotel Madison at 0830 on Monday 10/14 to be a part of this years conference photo. Most everyone changes after lunch into more comfortable clothing.
Bluestone Winery Dinner - Business Casual. We invite everyone for dinner, refreshments, and socializing at the beautiful Bluestone Winery the evening of Wednesday 10/16. More details to come.
Diamond Club Outing - Please wear comfortable shoes for walking during your tour on Tuesday 10/15
Tactical Tuesday - Range attire - For those planning on participating in Tactical Tuesday (more details below) please bring appropriate range attire including your ballistics vest, we will have eye and ear protection available if needed.
Parking at Hotel Madison: Hotel Madison offers onsite parking in a garage which is located adjacent to the hotel and the entrance is located off Martin Luther King Jr Way. The hotel is accessed via a covered walkway from the garage. The rate is $5 per day per car with unlimited in/out access. They lease spaces in this garage, and the hotel will collect the fee from guests and track it separately due to these arrangements.
Dietary Restrictions: For anyone with dietary restrictions please directly email Conference Committee member Rebecca Bechtel (rebecca.bechtel@harrisonburgva.gov) with those restrictions no later than Monday 10/7
Conference Communication: This year we will be using Signal for messaging. This app is free and secure and comes highly recommended for law enforcement. First, please go to your app store and download Signal - Private Messenger. Then, go to our conference website where you will find the QR code to join our group. Only registered attendees will be approved to have access to the group. The QR code will also be available at registration and in the conference program.

Diamond Club Outing - Sign Up Here. Diamond Club members are encouraged to join us Tuesday 10/14 as we delve into the largest and most popular caverns in Eastern America. Sign up by 10/7 space is limited!
Tactical Tuesday - Tactical Tuesday will include live fire drills and will be split into two groups. Group 1 will attend the session from 0800-noon and will return to the hotel for lunch and other breakout sessions. Group 2 will remain at the hotel in the morning and will attend the tactical session from 1300 - 1700. Transportation to and from is provided. Each participant needs to bring the following:
400 rounds ammunition estimated/must store on your own
Ear Pro & Eye Pro
Firearm and at least 3 magazines
Holster (or Duty Belt)
Body Armor
